INSTALLATION OF AUDIO OUTPUT IN THE ICOM M-59 VHF RADIO
The ICOM M-59 has the "Squelch Problem" - that is, the squelch gate switching is done after the volume control.

Transmit audio is taken as shown in the diagram through a 330K ohm resistor.

Receive audio can be taken as shown in the upper left of the diagram through a 100K ohm resistor, or at the speaker through a one meg ohm resistor as shown in the lower right of the diagram.
